MacAllister McAleese have recovered £115,000 compensation for a client who was injured at work.
Our client sustained a serious eye injury after his employer failed to provide him with protective eyewear.
The employer denied liability, attributing blame for the injury to our client. Consultant solicitor Terry MacAllister, former partner in MacAllister Keenan & Co Solicitors, had carriage of the case and was not perturbed about the denial of liability.
An experienced barrister was instructed, and proceedings were issued in the High Court in Belfast for negligence and breach of statutory duty on the part of the employer due to their failure to provide a safe system of work.
The employer continued to deny liability; however we advised our client to persist with the claim and ultimately settlement was reached in the sum of £115,000. Our professional fees and outlays, including court costs, medical reports and barrister costs were all recovered separately, and on top of, our client’s compensation.
