£70,000 Damages for Cyclist Injured in A8 Bus Collision

We recently secured £70,000 in damages for a client who was seriously injured after being forced to take an evasive manoeuvre when a bus cut across his path while he was cycling on the A8 outside Larne.

Thankfully, our client was wearing a cycle helmet and was sufficiently alert to recognise the danger and take evasive action when the bus cut across his path. Despite this, he was flung from his bicycle and sustained significant injuries.

Court proceedings were issued in the High Court and, following the obtaining of appropriate expert evidence and negotiations on our client’s behalf, the claim settled for £70,000, together with legal costs and outlays.

The case serves as a reminder of the importance of cyclists wearing appropriate protective equipment, remaining alert to developing hazards, and of motorists maintaining proper observation and giving due consideration to cyclists sharing the road.
